And that was FediForum Spring 2026 day 1.
Great demos, amazing conversations. At least that is what we heard attendees say during closing session!
See you tomorrow for day 2!!

@quillmatiq@mastodon.social sad I missed it! Was it an evolution of the FediMTL talk @evan@cosocial.ca ?
@futurebird police have declared this a crime scene
Goose and Gander
I complained when M Carney used Google to talk to #Canadians. #Canada and its politicians must assert their #DigitalSovereignty, and that means making their content available in safe, surveillance-free venues FIRST, and only feed the #USA's #GAFAM / #AI / #SurveillanceEconomy SECOND. Walk the talk.
And that includes you, @avilewis. Your #mastodon staffers know exactly what I am talking about: #Peertube, #Loops, #Pixelfed, and the rest of the #federated platforms. #Fediverse.
People think "milk and honey" go together, but this isn't true for bees. Milk can cause serious problems for larger bees, especially with their little feet.
They may lack toes, in taller ants.
@evan I basically meant users attempted to follow a hashtag at tags and the account is created by the software... Not really editor / moderator curation
@jadebees yes, they're not edited at all
This has been on my mind for *weeks*. I've been saying for a long time that it's possible to have an AI that only uses consensually-gathered content, is open source + open weights, runs on your own machine, and is designed to empower creators instead of exploit them. Well, we've finally got one. https://www.anildash.com/2026/04/28/one-good-ai-is-here/
