@evan I think your point is a good one, but this example is untrue. The current President notably does use an American social network (which he owns personally) for his announcements; I'd say to an unhealthy degree. The previous presidents who served while social media existed also used American social networks extensively; particularly for campaigning, but also as a part of their announcement strategy.

Anyway, just a note. I think your argument is good, but this example doesn't support it.

Just saw this “SEEKING NEW POLYCULE MEMBER” poster.

First off, I want the tea from the “defector”. Why did they defect? They must have a story.

But also, why is rent $1,570? If everyone’s contributing the same amount, that comes to $10,990. If they’re not in a mansion, there’s a hustle going on.

The fact they make you fill out an application—that’s just stressful. Sex ain’t worth it if it’s a job interview. In fact, there’s nothing less sexy than filling out forms.

@evan I can't vote as I think there is a strong chance of Constitutional amendment and a third term.

I guess the “election” option fits that but I think you're implying the election won't include Trump.

@evan @mkb having the entire East Wing of the White House torn down and it is being rebuilt with a massive ballroom is not because Trumple Fatskin is a huge ballroom dancing fan.

He wants a huge space for fundraising, on federal property (which is illegal, by the way), so he doesn't have to fly back to Mar-a-Lago to host and solicit bribes from foreign governments and rich people.

@evan Maybe it was an opportunity to inform us, here, below the 49th, without shouting. He was quite firm in his sentiments, but using American social media was a very polite act. At least it makes sense to me here in California. ♥️🇨🇦

I know it's easier to post on American social media services. But Canadians have been doing a lot of things that are harder just to support Canadian businesses and keep our dollars on this side of the border. Government can do things that are a little harder, too.

The UK's "over-reliance on foreign [tech] companies has become an urgent issue of national security as US foreign policy actions are creating geopolitical uncertainty.”

Our new report calls for the UK government to pursue Digital Sovereignty to protect its critical infrastructure.

The American president doesn't use the big American social networks for his announcements. Why is the Canadian prime minister using them?

I want to see our leaders do their part and post on Canadian social network services. Federation gives them reach to other countries, but keeps them rooted here.
