@mpjgregoire @dyckron The idea that she would have chosen to want to live through those last weeks the way she did if only she truly understood that she was not a burden is offensive.

@aeva ok, so, bad news/good news situation. Your name is in there, but in the most innocuous way one could possibly imagine.

@mpjgregoire @dyckron
I witnessed my wife's mother have to first starve herself (tell the nurses to stop the feeding tube) then dehydrate herself (stop iv) & she said all her life she would rather die by her own decision than live through what she ended up living through those last weeks w/ cancer.

She could have morphine & eventually we realized that that is exactly how MAID has worked in practice for decades because nurses & doctors are willing to treat their patients as humans with dignity.

@aeva @evan Given the number of acquaintances and professional contacts I have had with MIT folks who were involved by necessity with people who worked directly with folks like Joi Ito or Nicholas Negroponte, I think a lot of people I know might have checked if their projects were funded by Epstein.

@nberlat.bsky.social complaining about inclusive language is the kind of statement that has a high risk of not aging well. "Why do we have to call Them <minimally inclusive term>? It's ridiculous! <Horrific slur> is perfectly proper English and exactly what every normal person uses!" You're likely in a few years to look more like Strom Thurman than William Safire. Why take the gamble?

@evan i imagine most people did not live in a world that had epstein in it prior to his death
