I’m looking for input from ActivityPub experts. Vernissage supports reading and exchanging EXIF metadata from photos (currently visible only in supporting systems). Would it be reasonable (if explicitly enabled by the user) to automatically embed this metadata as HTML in outgoing ActivityPub posts, so other platforms could render it within the status content? This could eliminate the need for manual copying. Curious whether this is considered a good practice or an anti-pattern. 🤔

@afilina Except that everyone uses chrome, and there’s no real YouTube competitor, and no real Google Docs competitor, and they never really cared about phone revenue, and ChromeOS and Android are successful, and Gemini 3 is doing well.

I agree that their search product is increasingly crap, but everybody still uses it, because what else would they use?

Hoping Kagi gets access to their index (lawsuit in progress).

Google is a dying company but doesn't know it yet. YouTube is unusable. Chrome is unusable. Search engine is terrible. The phones are probably still okay-ish but getting new bugs with every update. I think most tech giants have reached a point of no-return. We can accelerate their demise by moving away before we have no choice. I wonder whether my next phone should be a flip-phone, honestly.

@chris @crispius I have them switched off for most apps. Phone and messages excluded. A couple of other apps but only if I don’t get too many notifications. I can’t be bothered by that constant “noise”.
