I’m grateful to have met so many people across the . I've always aimed to represent and support a community perspective when discussing our space. I also want to say that I am proud of the Mastodon team's thoughtful work and values, and I'm thankful for their friendship, especially through some tougher personal moments in the past ~10 months. Looking back at the past few years, I’ve given 30-40 talks, interviews, and panels on the Fediverse; hosted the Social Web Devroom at FOSDEM (twice); written extensively about the open social web and the free internet; and contributed to discussions in standards bodies and EU agency meetings - helping shape how decentralised social technologies are understood and adopted. The Fediverse is more like local politics, with small communities discussing things. Centralised networks like Twitter, TikTok, instagram etc are more like national politics, with loud mouthpieces shouting over everyone else.

This mental image helps me in understanding why the influencers fail here and they of course think that means that the fediverse must be a lost cause while we commoners happily chug along and enjoy our little street parties ;)

@evan @indivisibleteam the person in the bed is Jeffrey Epstein. Quite why Trump-Jesus is healing a pedophile, or why Trump thought it a good idea to post it, i have no idea.

> thanks for listening to and boosting the album

You're very welcome. Thanks for making it and sharing it with the world!

Just out of curiosity, if I @mention @sknob@bandwagon.fm, what sort of notification does the BandWagon.fm app give you that you've been mentioned? Can you see this post there? Can you reply?

@benpate

Another album Spiral reminds me of is Subliminal Plastic Motives, a 1995 album by Self;

sknob's Can't Wait has a bit of a So Low vibe about it.

If you haven't heard any of the music I'm referencing, check it out, you won't regret it. Similarly, if you want to know what sknob's Spiral sounds like, check it out!

My favourite song is About Time, a melodic rant against wage slavery. Other highlights include;

* Can't Wait, an idiosyncratic love song with a hint of They Might Be Giants and Weezer's self-titled album

* Unreal, which reminds me of kiwi lo-fi legends Tall Dwarfs.

* It’s Cool To Be A Nazi Now, reminiscent of the sardonic agitprop of casiotone-slinging kiwi art-punks Wendyhouse.
