@evan Plonk is an artefact from Usenet times, IIRC. Good to hear it's still around :) https://www.newsdemon.com/what-is-plonk
Anyway, my answer is no, but I'm not consistent.
I'm not sure if it's really telling the person being blocked, or if it's a performance for others.
Another thing I have seen a lot in the last year is "plonk" as a way to tell someone you're blocking them. "You're wrong about this topic so *plonk*". If you search for that word on a larger instance, you'll see it a lot.
I don't always do great -- sometimes I subtoot afterwards, like, "I just blocked someone because..." I see this a lot on the Fediverse.
Thanks to everyone for replying. I can't speak for everyone but for me blocking and muting are a cooling off period where I can disengage and avoid saying something I later regret. Telling someone I blocked them would undercut that.
@miguelpergamon that's s valid point of view. That I disagree with in this case as part of the poll is also to have to take a stance. The options today are also not at all mutually exclusive. The only compromise offered is to not vote and make your Other comment/argument here. Thanks! @evan has an amazing FAQ related to polls that is his FAQ or position on polls but that I largely agree with and can be used as guidance in most polls I think https://evanp.me/pollfaq/
@evan @oivaeskola the U lock is to keep the bike frame attached to the landscape, the cable is to keep the wheels attached to the frame.
@evan this is the exact product that sparked the toot!
